We currently have several regular volunteering opportunities in our community medicine gardens.

At these sessions we gather to tend to our gardens, harvest herbs and we also try to incorporate some medicine making. Activities range between seed sowing and other forms of herb propagation through the year, soil care & mulching, planting out, connecting with herbs and their energies through the seasons, weeding, watering, harvesting, pruning, tea tasting, remedy making and through all of these, learning and sharing knowledge together around herbal medicine, healthcare across traditions, forest gardening and ecosystem care, methods of preparing herbs in food, drink and medicine. We have a mix of us who come together and a loose, warm community ongoingly forms with mutual support and care. There is always a tasty colourful lunch - we provide this and people bring anything to share if they can.

Sessions:

  • Cheney Row, Walthamstow with Time To Grow (food and medicine garden) - weekly Mondays, 5-7pm

  • Clyde Place + Epsom Road, Leyton (nervous system, skin & hormone herbs) - 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month (1/2 day at each), 10am-4pm

  • Mulberry Close, Chingford (largest site with herb hill, forest garden & lunch bed) - weekly Thursdays, 10am-4pm

Garden inductions

We ask all new volunteers to join us for an induction before volunteering with us in our gardens. These inductions are an opportunity to learn more about the Community Apothecary project, get the lay of the land and for us to share any essential information with you about the site. You can see our upcoming inductions below, but if for whatever reason these have not been updated these are usually held on the first session of the month. Please get in touch at communityapothecary.wf@gmail.com to register for an induction.

Before coming to an induction we ask you to fill out your details via this sign up form. We also ask that you read our induction information document.
